Lies, Half-Truths & Incompetence: A Recipe For Heartache
Internet marketing is chock full of lies and even more dangerous half-truths and incompetence. Most businesses offering internet marketing are clueless. Truly, they’ve taken a $250 course on internet marketing, spent a week studying and are marketing their wares and knowledge (or lack thereof) to you.
How can you tell their experience? They even have a leg up on you. They took the $250 course and spent a week studying. What they are saying sounds good, doesn’t it?
The talk normally starts with getting you to page 1 on Google. That’s the first sign of trouble.
Getting you to page 1 on Google isn’t going to do squat for your business. That’s like saying by going to the ‘big dance’ you’ll find and marry the person of your dreams. Heck, page one is really just like walking into the door.
Statistically if you are not 1, 2 or 3 on page one, you aren’t going to get results, at least measurable results. In fact, if you are interested in second or third place, most likely you’ll be sadly disappointed. Settling just to be a participant will not produce enough traffic to make a real difference in your business.
Did you start your business to settle for anything but being the best? I hope not. Settling for anything less is a quick trip to closing up shop.
Being #1 Isn’t Good Enough
Have you ever thought about being first and second? That’s right, not first or second but both. Its achievable and an important idea to consider. You want two chances to get customers to your site. You basically have a short title and slightly longer subtitle to capture your customer’s attention.
With a hand full of words, what percent of the market you serve do you think you can you connect with? That’s why you need two chances.
If that’s not a good enough reason, how about pushing your competition down and out of site of potential consumers. That’s right, this is guerrilla warfare. Only the tacitly smart win this game.
Ranking is only the beginning. But without it you don’t have a chance. Once ranked what are you to do?
Get the Hook Right!
The hook is your title and subtitle that show up on search engine results. You can control what Google shows in the result for your business. For example, stating ‘Jimmy Joe Architect Local Town USA’ is a huge mistake. That is unless everybody knows Jimmy Joe.
Instead, you must have compelling title. Something like, ‘Arizona Architects Creative Designs that SAVE clients cash’.
Just look throughout the internet, over 90% of businesses that get the ranking part right get the hook totally wrong. What a waste. That’s like going to the ‘big dance’ and not getting dressed up.
And once there, there are very specific things you must do to get click-through to your website.
So, potential consumers make it to your website. Excellent Start! Does your website speak to them? Is it answering their questions? If not, guess what. Bye Bye Bye… They are off…to your competition. To see what you need to look for in your website, Click Here.
